Textilease Posts Weekly Awards for South Boston Late ModelsTop 20 Share Season Super Fund / $150 Late Model Starting MoneySouth Boston, VA…..The Textilease Corporation, the sponsor of South Boston’s Late Model Division, will reward South Boston Late Model competitors that sport the Textilease logo on their cars and uniforms. The program will reward the top 20 finishers in each race and the top 20 in points at the end of the season. During the season, each race of 100 laps or longer will pay at least $175 back to 20th position, $150 to start and $1,500 to win, to competitors displaying a Textilease patch on their uniform and a Textilease windshield decal on their race car. At the end of the season, each of the top 20 competitors in points will take home at least $500 in cash, plus special awards. The 2001 Textilease Late Model Track Champion will pocket a cool $5,000 in cash. “We have been working hard to get these programs in place for our Late Model competitors and appreciate Textilease’s commitment”, commented South Boston’s General Manager, Cathy Rice. “This is only the beginning. Our Late Model competitors are the best in the business and we want them to get the recognition and rewards they deserve for the great show that they put on”, Rice concluded. In addition to the Textilease program, this season South Boston Late Model competitors will benefit from: o Race Rap.Com Pole Award Program, worth $100 per race and $500 to the driver with the most pole positions at the end of the season. o $500 purse bonus for the November 11th Baileys Hometown Challenge, for drivers that attempt to qualify for 75% or more of South Boston’s 2001 Late Model Races. o $200 Timber Wolf Hard Charger Award for each Late Model event. o $500 GE Tile Service Most Popular Driver Award for the Season o $750 GE Tile Service Best Appearing Pit Crew for the Season. o Four regionally televised events on Fox Sports Net South and Comcast Sports Net (formerly Home Team Sports). American General Finance will serve as the sponsor for South Boston’s next event, scheduled for Saturday, April 21st. Featured divisions will include Pure Stock 4’s, Rolling Thunder Modifieds, American General Limited Sportsman and Twin 75’s for the Textilease NASCAR Late Models. April 21st will also showcase the first of two HOMEMAX Student Challenge events, with six area High School teams racing Sir Richard Go Karts for HOMEMAX Championship bragging rights.
