Southampton Motor Speedway Car Show & Practice Dates Announced

CAPRON, Va. (Feb. 27) — Southampton Motor Speedway has announced a schedule of preseason activities leading up to the track’s NASCAR Weekly Racing Series 2001 opener on Friday, March 30.

The happenings kick off this Saturday, March 3, with a car show at Southpark Mall in Colonial Heights, Va. Car displays are also planned for Saturday, March 10, at Becker Village Mall in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Saturday, March 17, at Chesapeake Square in Chesapeake, Va.

At all three events, fans will have a chance to get an up-close look at the machines and meet the drivers. Show times for the day-long displays will coincide with each mall’s opening and closing times.

Drivers will hit SMS’s 4/10-mile tri-oval for the first time in 2001 on Saturday, March 24, as the track hosts the first of two preseason practice rounds. The session will run from 9 a.m. ‘til 5 p.m.

The final preseason practice will be held on Wednesday, March 28. Pit gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the session will run from 6 ‘til 9.
