Wilkinson Leads All Star Drivers Into NashvilleNASHVILLE, TN (Mar 15, 2001) - John Wilkinson III of Hueytown, AL, is in a position that he has never been in before in his Southern All Stars Asphalt Racing Series career. He is a top the points standings, but there has only been one race one and he was the man who took the checkered lag last Saturday night in Birmingham. This Saturday night he and about 40 other drivers will be at the Nashville Speedway USA for the running of the Music City 320. It will consist of a 50 lap event for the Nashville Super Trucks and Late Models Stock Cars along with a 220 lap event for the Southern All Stars Late Models which are the fastest cars that race at Nashville during the year. 200 race winner Charlie Bradberry of Chelsea, AL, currently holds the series qualifying record at Nashville at 117.916 MPH 18.196. Wilkinson will also be joined by the second place in points and leader for rookie of teh year honors now J R Norris of Hueytown, AL, who captured the 2000 track championship at Birmingham last year. Defending series Champion Ricky Turner of Dawsonville, GA, will also be in action as well as Ronnie Sanders of Fayetteville, GA, Ken McFarland of Pleasant Grove, AL., Ricky Sanford of Greenbrier, TN, Jackie McGuire of Pelham, AL, David Hole of Cumming, GA, Eddie Mercer of Pensacola, FL, Scott Carlson of Pensacola, FL, and Wayne Anderson of Wildwood, FL. All of these drivers plus many more from across the eastern united States are expected to attempt and qualify for one of teh 40 starting spots that will be available.
