Boyette Automotive 250

Deac McCaskill started on the pole of the Boyette Automotive 200 on Labor Day but could not hold off the challenge from Wayne Grubb who took the lead on lap 93 and held on for the win in the 125-lap event.

Pole: Deac McCaskill
Grubb qualified in the 11th position but it was evident from the green flag that he was going to be strong. By lap 50, Grubb was running in fifth place and when point’s leader Frank Deiny, Jr. experienced a problem and had to pit, Grubb began his move forward. McCaskill had a strong second place finish, with Keith Clapp in third, Scott Kirkpatrick in fourth and Kirk Leone taking home fifth.

Jonathan Cash of Oxford won the 40-lap Limited Sportsman feature. Point’s leader Peyton Sellers was involved in a multi-car crash on lap 22 when a motor blew and coated the race track with oil. The lead pack had nowhere to go when they hit the oil, shooting Sellers into the outside wall with several others becoming involved as well. Sellers ended up in 11th position but still maintains a 20-point lead over Cash. Jerry Hinesley finished in second place, followed by Chris Denny in third, Troy Jones in fourth and Bill Barber in fifth.

Brent Evans, Jr. continues to dominate the Grand Stock division. Warren Taylor who finished in second and Timmy Ferrell who took third waged a heated battle from the beginning of the 20-lap event. Tommy Chandler and Jack Milam rounded out the top five.

Augie Saccoccio was the winner in the 15-lap Pure Stock 4 event. Twenty-two cars took the green with Steve Womble on the pole. Womble was able to hold off the challenge for four laps before Saccoccio worked his way by. Durham’s Jerry Elliott came through the pack to finish in second, with Gary Ferrell in third, Joel Likness fourth and Jeff Wilson in fifth.

The next event will be Saturday night, September 8 at 7:30 p.m. There will be 150 laps for the Late Model Stock, 50 laps for the Limited Sportsman, 25 laps for the Coca-Cola Grand Stocks, 20 laps for the Modified 4’s and 15 laps for the Pure Stock 4’s. General admission for adults is $12 with children 9 and under free.
