Mike Adams of Winston Salem Captures First Victory At Caraway SpeedwayBy: Renee HackettAsheboro, NC (June 30, 2001) —In the 50 Lap Late Model Stock event Jerry “The Jet” Burr of Asheboro captured the Late Model Stock Pole Award and his third victory of the season. Rounding out the top five finishers were Billy Hogan of Troy, Steve Loftin of Thomasville, Robert Tyler of High Point and Junior Cox of Winston Salem. Hogan took over the track points lead. In the 30 Lap Limited Late Model event Martinville’s Clay Campbell captured the pole award. Mike Adams captured his first victory at the speedway. James Triplett of Lexington, Campbell, Jeff Garrison of Clemmons and Brandon Hire of Lexington rounded out the top five finishers. In the 20 lap Super Sport event David Thomas of Randleman captured his sixth victory of the season. Gary Ledbetter of Lexington, Randy Dunn of Carthage, A. J. Lain of Archdale and Angela Morgan of Archdale rounded out the top five finishers. Ledbetter captured the heat race victory. In the 15 lap Mini Stock event Paul Wark of High Point captured his first victory of the season. Tony Cox of West End, Ricky Jacobs of West End, Chris Brown of Siler City and Junior Kendrick of Thomasville rounded out the top five finishers. Cale Christian of Carthage and Jacobs each won a heat race event. In the 15 lap Super Mini Truck event Waylon Saunders of Asheboro captured the victory. Keith Wagoner of Martinsville, Virginia, Steven Collins of Asheboro , Mark Harris of Thomasville and Mark Traynham of Thomasville rounded out the top five finishers. Coming up this Wednesday Night, July the 4th, will be the Bailey’s Firecracker 300 featuring a 300 lap NASCAR Late Model Stock event, a spectacular Fireworks display and live performance by Troy’s singing sensation Lori Beth Hogan. Also on hand will be a 30 lap Limited Late Model, 20 lap Super Sport, 15 Lap Mini Stock and 15 Lap Super Mini Truck events. Pits and backside gates open at 2pm. Grandstands open at 6pm and the racing action gets underway at 8pm. A special Open Practice will be held on Tuesday July 3rd from 4pm until dark. Then coming up on Friday July 6th, the SMART Open Wheeled Modified Tour will be at the track for 150 laps of action. Also on hand will be a 50 lap Late Model Super Truck event, Legends, Street Stocks and U-Cars. Pits and Backside Gates will open at 2pm. Grandstands open at 6pm and the racing gets underway at 8pm.
