Martinsville Speedway’s Clay Campbell Wins

Asheboro, NC (April 28, 2001) –Billy Hogan of Troy, known as “The White Knight” wins the 5th Annual Carquest Road To Charlotte by fighting off Rookie Rusty Harpe of Winston Salem in the 150 lap NASCAR Late Model Stock event. “Rapid” Ray Young of Bassett, Virginia brought home third. Jason York of Reidsville, Rodney Cook of Reidsville, Brian King of Gibsonville, Junior Cox of Asheboro, Jimmy Mullins of Martinsville, Virginia, Travis Swaim of High Point and Nathan Buttke of Randleman rounded out the top ten finishers.

In the 30 lap Limited Late Model event Campbell, president of Martinsville Speedway, captured his first win of the season. Brandon Hire of Lexington, Tony Murchison of Lexington, Jeff Garrison of Clemmons and Chad Shoaf of Archdale rounded out the top five finishers.

In the 20 lap Super Sport event David Thomas of Asheboro captured the victory. Gary Ledbetter of Lexington, Bobby Hill of Asheboro, Randy Dunn of Carthage and Toney Henderson of Asheboro rounded out the top five finishers.

In the 15 lap Mini Stock event Junior Kendrick of Thomasville captured his second victory of the season. Rodney Creason of Asheboro, Michael Beaver of Troy, Tony Cox of West End and Randy Slater of Colfax rounded out the top five finishers.

In the Rookie Legends event Chris Potter captured the victory. Mark Gibson, Cary Thompson, Paul Douglas and Darrell Woodell rounded out the top five finishers.

In the Pro Legends event Wayne Austin captured the victory. Brian Sullivan, Rodney Tharp, Jan Ingram and Tim Curtis rounded out the top five finishers.

In the three U-Car events Dean Skeen of Greensboro, Mike Skeen of Greensboro and Brian Harb of Sophia each captured a victory.

Coming up this Friday Night will be the first 200 Lap Enduro of the season. Also on hand will be the U-Cars. On Saturday Night the Late Model Super Trucks will be on hand for 50 laps of action. Also competing will be 50 lap Late Model Stock, 30 Lap Limited Late Model, 20 lap Super Sport, 15 lap Mini Stock and 15 lap Super Mini Truck events. Grandstands will open at 6PM.
