Jay Foley Wins 2nd Consecutive SMART Modified 150 Lapper

Asheboro, North Carolina (April 14, 2001) – The Rolling Thunder Tour of the SMART Modifieds returned to the .455 mile asphalt oval this Saturday Night for 150 laps of non-stop action in the running of True Value Night at the Races.

Pat Deponte captured the Pole Award. As the 150 lap event progressed a battle at the very end would put Foley in the lead at the restart with a green, white and checkered to go. Foley would capture his second consecutive victory at the speedway. Doug Wolcott, Burt Myers of Walnut Cove, Junior Miller of Winston Salem, Frank Fleming of Mt. Airy, Pat DePonte, Bobby Hutchens of Winston Salem, John Smith of Mooresville, Terry Gaither of Kernersville and Gene Pack of Winston Salem rounded out the top five finishers.

In the 50 Lap Nascar Late Model Stock event “The White Knight”, known as Billy Hogan of Troy, battled his way to victory lane ahead of second place finisher Jason York of Reidsville. Jerry Burr of Asheboro, Rusty Harpe of Winston Salem and Nathan Buttke of Randleman rounded out the top five finishers.

In the 30 Lap Limited Late Model event James Boling of Randleman captured his first victory of the season. James Triplett of Lexington, Clay Campbell of Martinsville, VA, Tommy Moody of Sophia and Mike Adams of Winston Salem rounded out the top five finishers.

In the 20 lap Super Sport event Randy Dunn of Carthage captured his first victory of the season. Gary Ledbetter of Lexington, Angela Morgan of Archdale, Bobby Hill of Asheboro and A. J. Lain of Archdale rounded out the top five finishers.

In the 15 lap Mini Stock event Junior Kendrick of Thomasville captured his first victory of the season. Rodney Creason of Asheboro, Tony Cox of West End, Randy Slater of Carthage and Chris Brown of Siler City rounded out the top five finishers.

Coming up this Saturday Night will be the running of NWRS Night featuring a 50 lap Late Model Super Trucks and a 50 Lap Late Model Stock event. Grandstands will open at 6PM.
