"Rapid" Ray Young Rules the Roost at Ace

The weather was so hot and so was " Rapid " Ray Young this Friday night, August 10th at Ace Speedway on Real Rock 100.3 The Buzzard Night presented by Gatorade. Young, the 1999 Ace Speedway NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Budweiser Late Model Stock Champion took his 3rd win of the season in the 75 lap event for the Late Models.

The Bassett, Virginia resident driving for Packaging Procduct Inc. ( PPI Racing # 57 ) set a fast time in qualifying got the pole, but started 6th in the race after the inversion. Jason York, Mark Rumley, and points leader Brain King all had a share of the race lead before " Rapid " Ray took the lead on lap 20.

The race had 1 caution for the lights on the backstretch going out on lap 9, the race was red flagged for 15 mins to restore the lights. Ray Young won the race by 4 cars lengths over Richard Bailey.
