GARY CAUSEY/BILL WILDER TOP ACE SPEEDWAY WINNERSGary Causey and Bill Wilder topped the race winners this Friday night, June 29that Ace Speedway on True Value Hardware Night. In addition to the great NASCAR Weekly Racing Series action the huge crowd was treated to a great fireworksdisplay compliments of Dave's Discount Furniture Warehouse. Gary Causey from Snow Camp, NC took his 4th win of the year in the big 100-lap race for the Budweiser Late Models. Causey set fast time in the Crawford Masonry car and started in fifth in the race. Three other drivers, Mark Rumley, Ray Young, and Brian King all had a share of the race lead before Causey took control of the race on lap 11. Todd Massey charged from 8th starting spot to challenge Causey midway through the race but his effort fell several car lengths short at the finish. Ray Young finished third. He was followed by Mark Rumley, Richard Landreth, Speedy Faucette, Jason York, Richard Bailey, Dean Fogleman, Jerry Holyfield Jr., Bobby Griffin, Shannon Dowd, Mike Zimmerman, Owen Gray, Ricky Oliver, Keith Perry, Toby Tilley, and Brian King. King the point leader going into the race suffered motor failure early in the event and now trails Massey by four points in the standings with Causey just 8 points behind Massey. Bill Wilder, the "Professor" from Winston-Salem, NC took his first win of the year in the Dave's Discount Furniture Modified race. Wilder driving the car his students at Forsyth Community College built for him took his second career win over Larry Cook, Roy Cook, Jerry Scott, G.C. Agee, Ed Underwood, Barry Garner, and Steve Paschal. Brian Owens from Thomasville, NC won in the YMC Mortgage Company Super Stocks over Mike Massey, Jimmy Rice, Phil Bryant, Mike Gerringer, Gary Young Jr., Brian Gray, Don Cook, Tony Smith, and Billy Radford Jr. Ricky Sykes from Haw River, NC won the Kennedy Oil Company Mini Stock race over Trader Dunnington, Lee Brown, Billy Radford Sr., Donnie West, Jesse Ingle III, Larry Emory, and Corey Agee, Ryan Davis Jr., from Trinity, NC won the Extreme Car race over Chad Sykes, Jason Cook, Chase Tate, Bradley Hayes, Chad Coggins, Sam Faucette, Tommy Williams, Charlie Payne, Jamie Orange, and Porky Briggs. Cotton Mason from Rocky Mount, VA won the Old Timers race. Ace Speedway will be closed this coming Friday night, July 5th for the Independence Day Holiday weekend but will return to action on Friday Night July 13th on PAX-TV-16 Night.
